Types of atoms

Atom is the building block of the universe and our earth. Every big or small thing are made up of atom. But the question is that how many types of atom are present in this world ?

Atoms are present in all state like solid, liquid and gas. Same atom present in all these states but

Now a question appears in most of people’s mind that almost same atoms present in all these states then why these states different to each other ?

Answer of this query is like as in solid state the molecular space present between the atom of any solid thing is almost zero,

There is no space present between the atoms of solid thing they are closely packed with each other.

In liquid state a little space present between the atoms of any liquid, they are loosely packed with each other so liquid flows.

In gaseous state there is a large amount of space present between in atom of gas therefore gases flows in all directions.

There are 118 type of atoms present in the whole universe or this world. A thing that is called periodic table according to this periodic table there are 118 kinds of atoms present in our earth.

In these 118 types of atom some are metals, some are gas, some are non- metal and other type of element present in this modern periodic table.

What is periodic table ?

Periodic table is a table in which all atoms/elements was put in a group. With the time periodic table was change by various scientists. Some were accepted by and some were rejected.

The periodic table firstly developed by a scientist named Mendeleev but there is some drawback of the periodic table which

He made so this table was not acceptable a long time in the world of chemistry science.

Dimitri Mendeleev

After this many scientists came like Loather Mayer, Diobernier and other but Henry Moseley did a deep analyze of all the periodic table which other scientists developed earlier.

He removes all the drawbacks of that periodic tables and represent that table into new shape.

Basically other scientist put atomic weight or mass that is not correct in order to make a table.  Like in  Mendeleev’s periodic table Mendeleev put elements in the basis of their atomic mass or weight.

Evolution of periodic tables

Dobereiner develops a triads according to this triads Dobereiner put each 3 element in groups this called triads.

Johann Wolfgang Döbereiner

And then Newland comes, Newland develops his octave law according to his octave he put 8 element like,

If you like music and something know about music then you often listen about octave and most of you know about octave, basically octave is a group of 8 music notes.

In octave when 8 music notes complete in sequence then again 8 music notes comes but in different pitch same as in table he put 8 element in sequence of octave.

This is the first ever and much intresting thing ever in the history of chemistry science.

John Newlands

And finally Henry Moseley came. Moseley did a great work, he analyze all the work of these scientists and he develops his own but the great work that he did is that,

He put atomic number in the place of atomic weight and he place some spaces for other element if anyone discovers a new element in the future then he/she puts his new element in this table.

Modern Periodic Table

MPT or modern periodic table is developed by Henry Moseley in 1869. Modern periodic table is a square rectangle shaped table in which every element is kept in a single box. In this table it has periods and groups.

Henry Moseley

There are 8 groups present in this table. A period is a horizontal row of this periodic table which you can see in the image.

A period is a vertical column of the periodic table based on the organization of the outer shell electrons. There are 7 period present in the table.

Period 1 has only two elements, period 2 and period 3 have 8 elements, period 4 and 5 have 8 elements,

Period 6 and 7 have 32 elements because the two bottom rows that are separated from the rest of the table belong to those periods.

Properties of modern periodic table

They are pulled out in order to make the table itself fit more easily into a single page.

A group is horizontal column of the periodic table, based on the organization of the outer shell electrons. There are a total 18 groups.

There are two different numbering system that are commonly used to designate groups and should be familiar with both.

In first of two groups are 1A and 2A while the last six groups are 3A through 8A. The middle use B in it’s title.

There are many atoms or elements present like as iron (Fe), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O) and other elements.

In this table every group has it’s different properties,

This table contains metal, non-metals, alkane, alkine , helide and including gases like hydrogen (H), lithium (Li), carbon (C) and others.

Only few elements were discovered and as with time elements discovered and added into this table. The best thing about it is that it is able to add some new elements or atoms whenever they will discover in the future.

Conclusion

Truly modern periodic table is the best way to learn about the properties, atomic weight, atomic number  metal groups, non-metal and other groups. It is very useful for science students and new learner of science.

If You learn this modern periodic table then you can easily know all important information and knowledge about all these elements.

This can help you in various exams of your school, collage and any type of competitive exams.

Modern periodic table is element friendly, but it does not means that other tables are useless,

They are also very useful, in fact if these tables were not made then we can’t get modern periodic table. means whenever

Other elements will discover then those elements can add in this table without any problem.

The most interesting thing about this table, there is a separate group and period for atoms or elements of different groups.

FAQ

What is the difference between atom and element ?

Basically both are something same like atom is a very small tiny particle and element is also something same.

Why periodic table is mandatory to know ?

Periodic table is the base of chemistry science because without it, it is almost impossible to do various tasks of chemistry science and it is also important to know about types of atoms.

How many types of atoms are there ?

According to modern periodic table there are 118 types of atoms. But in past time there are very less types of atoms were there.
