HISTORY

The idea of the first open-mic is first originated in the 1930s when a group of some students gathered at a place in Paris & the place was a tea shop.

Writers of the Harlem Renaissance by the author Paulette Nardal, & her sister Jane are also prevent in that group & leads to the creation of an African movement called “Negritude”.

The Nardal Sisters participated well, in the Negritude movement, with there writing skills are bed The tea shop named Clamart Salon, is the hangout place where the negritude movement truly started. Paulette Nardal & Dr. Leo Sajou founded a journal named “La Revue du Monde Noir” a literary journal published in English & French from the Clamart Salon.

The founders of the Negritude are the three Fathers named.
1) Aime Cesaire (Poet, playwright & Politician)
2) Leopold Sedas Senghor (poet & Activist)
3) Leon – Gontran Damas (Poet)

In 1934 this trio leads to publishing the first journal devoted to Negritude named “The Black Student” (L’Etudiant Noir). Further, many more are opened.

It became common among poets; writers, musicians & artists of all daces. At present.

TYPES OF OPEN MIC

Many are there but mostly organize shows by taking all categories based on the skill. It is of two type-

1. Specific open mic– They organize by  taking specific category like only poetry, singing, canvas laugh club (comedy)
2.mixed open mic– They organize by taking all those categories like stand up comedy, storytelling, poetry include every skill

OPEN MIC NIGHT

The specialty of this is that they are scheduled at night time. They are scheduled in night-time live at Caffe house, night club, a comedy club in the time of night
Many are there in Delhi organize the open mic night like in Champa Gali, Saket Delhi

HOW TO CHOOSE AN OPEN MIC

Now, it is decided, registration is also done but the problem arises when you did not perform on any stage before this and feeling nervous, worried about your first performance. Then, some tips are provided to overcome the fear and the practices to follow–

1. Stop overthinking

Do not think again and again about the performance

2. Practice makes a man perfect

Whenever possible, practice inside the house practice in front of the mirror or front camera of the mobile

3. Self-confidence

Do not think about the audience. What they will say? what they will think? take the show as a practice, not as a competition

4.Eye to eye contact

Try to make eye contact with the audience individually. From this, your mind thinks that you are individually performed in front of a single audience

5.Comfortable

includes the audience in your performance, for example, asking the question and their personal experiences this is comfortable for both
