Refrigerator-

A refrigerator Is Mainly A household appliance. It mainly works with Refrigerant Gas that helps us to store food for many days. So today we will explain how it works.

Parts of Refrigerator

It has four part, those parts work with a lot of coordination. When we on the switch the refrigerator within a few seconds the compressor starts.

The compressor compresses the refrigerant and increases the temperature then the gas evaporates.

 Then the high temperature and high-pressure gas generate and the gas goes to the condenser.

  1.     Compressor.
  2.     Condenser.
  3.     Expansion Value.
  4.     Evaporator. 

The condensed gas converts into the liquid form. This liquid form of gas then goes to the expansion valve. The expansion lowers the pressure of this condensing liquid. After that, sends it to the evaporator or you can say cooling coil.

Here this condensing liquid takes the head of the surrounding and converts into vapour. This vaper again goes to the compressor, and the process repeated and again.

 The evaporator is cold by this heat-absorbing effect; it is working of the refrigerator.

1) Compressor-

  So here we talk about the compressor, it is the most important part of the refrigerator.

We can compare it with our heart. So you might think about why I Am comparing the compressor with our heart. Because without heart our body like a useless machine because our entire body depends on the one part of the body, that is the heart and it pumps the blood throughout our entire body.

 In the same way, the compressor compresses the refrigerant and sends the entire body of the refrigerator. That’s why the compressor is like the heart of the refrigerator. 

We mainly use the hermetic compressor in the refrigerator. This compressor is totally sealed like a dome.

Because of it, if we need to repair those compressors first, we have to cut down the compressor to repair it and then finally welding it like before.

 This kind of compressor mainly divided into two parts 

1. Engine

2. Motor

The engine like parts of the compressor mainly sucks the refrigerant in the cylinder and makes very high-pressure gas. The motor helps the engine in this work and they work with a lot of coordination.

 The motor rotates the crankshaft because of the rotation. connection rod pushes the piston up and down when the piston down its create a vacuum in the cylinder and sucks the refrigerant When The piston goes up to its create high pressure in the cylinder.

 Because of the high pressure, the valve opens and the high-pressure refrigerant comes out through the tube and finally comes out from the compressor, 

We can see three ports outside of the compressor, one is working for the suction, the other one for gas charge and the third one is for gas discharge. If you can see the size of the suction ports quite bigger than the discharge ports.

 Compressor body

 The body of the compressor we found three ports as we say earlier. 

1.Suction
2.Discharge
3.Charging

We can see a blast seal terminal that helps us to give power in the compressor or I Can say the motor in the compressor.


On the other hand, we can find a four spring that helps us mount the stater of the motor, and we found a tube that helps us inflowing the refrigerant to the condenser. 

 Now we talk about the motor. The motor has two parts one is the stator and the other one is the router,

If you see inside the stator, you can find two types of winding one is run winding and other is start winding.

 The run winding is tiny compare to start winding, and we get insulation in both of them, we get a connecting terminal from the winding, is has three ports.

One is for run winding, one is for start winding and one is for neutral winding. the connecting terminal is connected by the blast seal terminal. 

  In the stater, we found a rotor, the motor mainly works with magnetic induction. On the other hand, we find an engine in the compressor like our car and bike engine. You get a crankshaft, one piston, one cylinder.

On the cylinder we get a head, we get a two-valve, one is suction valve plate and other is discharge valve plate,

Suction valve plate and discharge valve plate works in rhyme and sent the refrigerant in the head and then the refrigerant goes to the condenser through piping.

2) Condenser.

The refrigerant which is come from the compressor is a high temperature and high-pressure gas that comes into the condenser pipe and flow through the condenser.

The condenser is open in the air because of the pipe that socks the heat from the refrigerant.

 Then finally the air socks the heat from the condenser, in this process the refrigerant is in gas form that is condensed into a liquid.

Because this part of the refrigerator do this kind of condensing that the main reason we call this part of the refrigerator as “condenser” There are three types of condenser we found in the refrigerator.

i) Redfin type of condenser

In this kind of condenser,we can see the fin of the condenser is in a rod shape that the primary reason behind his name.

ii)Plate-fin type condenser

We mainly see this kind of condenser in double door refrigerators, in this kind of condenser mainly place in the plate that’s why we call this kind of condenser as a plate-fin type of condense

iii) Forced convection type condenser

In these types of condenser mainly cool through a fan, the fan place one side of the condenser, it throws the airflow in the condenser. Mainly the air of the fan-forced the condenser for cooling, that’s why we call it forced convection type condenser.

Now we will talk about the power consumption of those three types of condenser.

The rod fin condenser is the most power-efficient condenser, on top of that if we find any problems in this kind of condenser, we can easily change it with a very lower cost.

On the other hand, because this kind of condenser cools down through a natural way that also an opportunity to save electricity.

On the other hand, plate-fin type condenser also cooling itself through the natural way but it costs a little more because of those fins.

But, the power consumption is a little high in the forced convection type condenser, because it has a separate fan for cooling on top of that this type of condenser costs a little more for its built quality and design.

But if you don’t think about power consumption and price, then I say you go for the forced convection type of condenser because it  is the best condenser between all of them, in terms of quality, design and  performance 

3) Expansion Valve

The expansion valve is the third part of the refrigerator cooling system.

It has mainly two work, one controlling the amount of the refrigerant entering the refrigerator and the second work is the maintenance pressure difference between condenser and evaporator.

Type of the expansion valve

 There are seven types of the expansion valve is available in the market

1. Hand-operated expansion valve

As you see the name of the valve, you can easily understand. This kind of valve mainly operates through the hand. It mainly uses previous generation refrigerator and AC

2. Automatic expansion valve

As its name says it works automatically, but you can think How? It mainly works with the pressure, when the load of the evaporator increases the expansion valve automatically pass the higher amount of refrigerant in the evaporator, on the other hand, the pressure of the evaporator decrease, the expansion valve automatically pass the lesser amount of refrigerant in the evaporator.

3. Thermostatic expansion valve

This kind of expansion valve mainly used in AC. It works with a sensor, those sensors sense the temperature and base on the temperature. It increases and decreases the flow of the refrigerant in the evaporator.  

 4. Low side float valve

 Those two kinds of valve have a lot of similarities.   Those two-valve works in a similar theory.

When the quantity of the refrigerant increases the evaporator of two side float valve stops the valve and when the quantity of the refrigerant is decreased it opens the valve of the expansion. Mainly it maintains the label of the refrigerator in the evaporator.

 The primary difference between two valves is the low side float valve placed in the low side in the refrigerator and the hand high side float valve place in the high side or you can say condenser side.

Those two float valves mainly work on the liquid level. We can see the capillary in the refrigerator and AC.  the size of the capillary depends on the load of the machine. If the machine load is high, the length and width increasing. it is a fixed type valve.

7. Electronic expansion valve

 it mainly found ACs, it mainly works with an integrated circuit.    

4) Evaporator

So let’s talk about the evaporator. In my opinion, the evaporator is also an important part of the refrigerator.

It helps to spread the cooling effect in the whole refrigerator and after complete this thing; it sent the refrigerant into the compressor.
