TIPS AND TRICKS ON HOW TO GET RID OFF FROM DISTRACTION
In day-to-day work life, social media and instant messaging can be a bonus to both productivity and efficiency if controlled properly.
- When it comes to concentration however, we are often to be blamed You need to take short breaks while you work and reward yourself when the job is done. For example, after writing a certain number of pages of a document or presentation.
- Maybe you need sleep, make sure you get enough sleep and talk to a spouse about your need for sleep so that he or she can make the necessary adjustments. Maybe you are carrying too many burdens on your shoulders. In that case, you need to take up a sport or some relaxing activity or hobby.
Our senses can be overloaded in some situations.
The problem is not the technology, it is what has happened to one’s brain with the overuse of technology.
When faced with a difficult task, it is tempting to check for a text or a message. Moreover Cutting, gluing, taping and stenciling could drive you to distraction. Start by creating an environment in which you’re less tempted to get preoccupied with something other than what you’re working on.
This isn’t always easy to do. For one, many of us rely on a computer to do our work, but we also find our biggest distractions enabled by the use of a computer on the internet.
- Turn off your phone or put it on silent and move it away from you (so you can’t easily pick it up). If you work in an open office, you may find it helpful to move to a quieter location.
When you know you have to get something done, you’ll figure out a way to do it. To eliminate distractions, give yourself a short time frame to finish your work.
- Write them on a sticky note and post it where you can see it every time when you look up from your work. By limiting the number of daily goals, you’ll have clearly defined what you need to work on. Your mind is like a muscle. This will strengthen our ability to focus for longer periods of time.
- If 45 minutes is a stretch, start with something more manageable, such as 25 minutes, and then give yourself a five-minute break.
You’ll be amazed by how much you can get done using this method!
If you’re having trouble focusing and are chronically distracted, it may be that your work isn’t engaging you fully. You might feel like you’re working hard all day, but it could be that your mind is fighting boredom and looking to fill the time with something more interesting.
We’re most likely to enter into a state of total work immersion when our abilities are
challenged. We get bored when our skills greatly exceed the demands of our work — such as when we do mindless data entry for several hours.
- Assess the level of unproductive busy work you’re doing. This could indicate that you have the capacity to take on more challenging projects
DISTRACTION AND HABITS
I’m a big fan of habits, believe it or not. When people say they want to form a habit, that’s typically shorthand for “I want something but I don’t want to have to work for it.” So many behaviors will never become habits.
“I want to make a habit of writing. I want to make a habit of exercising.” But the definition of a habit is a behavior done with little or no conscious thought.
If you want to improve your writing, it’s going to require more than unconscious thought. It requires deliberate purposes. You have to embrace the fact that you’re going to get uncomfortable it’s a sign that you’re improving. And then you keep doing it because it’s a routine, it’s not a habit.
Now, coming to the end of this blog, I would like to conclude with some effective points that would act as a summary of this blog topic and it will be easy to cope up with the problem of distraction.
- “DISTRACTION IS NOTHING BUT A WAY TO ATTRACT YOUR FOCUS TO OTHER THINGS.”
