Central Armed Police Force ( CAPF ) which comes under Ministry Of Home Affairs consists of seven forces .
UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission ) conducts a CAPF – AC ( Assistant Commandant ) exam for both Male and Female once in a year .
Through this exam , It recruits GROUP–A Officers for the post of AC .

ELIGIBILITY FOR CAPF – AC EXAM
Age Limit
Age must be between 20 to 25 years .
A relaxation of max. five years for those who belongs to :-
- Scheduled Caste ( SC ) ,
- Scheduled Tribe ( ST ) ,
- Civilian Central Govt. Servants ,
- Ex – Servicemen ,
- Domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st Jan , 1980 to 31st day of Dec , 1989 .
A relaxation of max. three years for those who belongs to –
Other Backward Classes ( OBC ) .

Both Male & Female candidates are eligible to apply for CAPF – AC exam .

The min requirements of physical standard for the candidate are given below :-

Educational Qualifications
Must have Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
Note :-
Those who are in the final year / semester of Degree course and have yet to pass the final year exam can also apply for the CAPF – AC exam .
CAPF – AC WRITTEN EXAM PATTERN
The CAPF – AC written exam will be conducted by UPSC .
It comprises of two papers i.e Paper I and Paper II .
For Paper I
The questions of written exam is of Multiple Choice Type and the language of question paper is in English as well as in Hindi .
For Paper II
Essay part is to be answered in long narrative in both English as well as Hindi .
But Comprehension parts and Other Communications / Language Skills is to be answered only in English .

Negative Marking
For each wrong answer given by the candidate in the OBJECTIVE TYPE , there will be a penalty .
The penalty for each wrong answer is a deduction of one third ( 0.33 ) of the marks .

The questions will broadly cover – the subject in its social, economic and political aspects in history of India , areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement .
Indian and World Geography
Physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.
Paper II :
Part‐A – { Essay ( 80 Marks ) }
The Essay topics are :-
- Modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle.

- Analytical ability .
Part‐B – { Comprehension, precis writing, other communications / language skills ( 120 Marks ) }

- Other aspects of language testing.

ONLINE APPLY FOR CAPF – AC EXAM
Interested eligible candidates are required to apply online using UPSC official website .
The online form contains two parts i.e Part – I and Part – II which need to complete as per the instruction .
Candidate should have to provide the details of one Photo ID Card while filling the online form .
The accepted Photo IDs are –
- Aadhaar Card
- Voter Card
- PAN Card
- Passport
- Driving Licence
- Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State / Central Govt.
This dteails of the Photo ID Card provided by the candidate while filling up the online form will be used for all stages of selection process .
The Applicants must ensure that they are providing a valid and active e-mail ID and mobile number .
This should not be changed till joining as all electronic mode of communication will be done through this at different stages of selection .
Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- ( Rupees Two Hundred Only ) .
Amount can be paid either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash .
Or can be paid by using net banking facility of State Bank of India .
It can also be paid through Visa / Master / Rupay Credit card / Debit card .
All female and SC / ST are not required to pay any Fee for the exam .
E-ADMISSION CERTIFICATE FOR WRITTEN EXAM
The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the the exam .
The e-Admission Certificate will be available on the official website .
It must be downloaded by the candidates . Note that it will not send by post .
SELECTION PROCESS FOR CAPF – AC WRITTEN EXAM
The min. qualifying marks for each paper will be fixed by the Commission in their discretion .
Paper – I will be checked first . The checking of Paper – II will be done only for those who obtain min. qualifying marks in Paper – I .
A list of qualifying candidates will be prepared on the basis of qualifying marks fixed by the Commission .
Those placed in the qualifying list will go through a Physical Efficiency Test .

PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST ( PFT )
The PFTs for Male and Female are given below :-

Note :-
Pregnant female will be disqualified at the time of PFT .
MEDICAL STANDARD TEST
Candidates who declared pass in the PFT will go through the Medical Test .
It is conducted by a board of Medical officers appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs .
Those declared medically unfit are allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” for review of medical test .
The review of medical test must be applied within 15 days from the date of declaration of result .
INTERVIEW TEST
Medically fit Candidates will be called for Interview Test . The test will be conducted by UPSC.
The Test carriers a total of 150 Marks .
Selected Candidates of Interview Test will be issued a Detailed Application Form ( DAF ) .
Candidate needs to mention the choice of Forces in DAF as per instruction in which he / she wants to join .
FINAL SELECTION / MERIT LIST
A merit list will be prepared on the basis of the total marks secured by the candidates .
The total mark includes the marks of written test and also the marks in the Interview Test .

GRANT OF SERVICE
Grant of service to the CAPF – AC will be made on the basis of Merit list .
It also based on the Service choice given by the candidate in the DAF .
RESTRICTION ON RE ‐ APPEARANCE
A candidate who has been finally selected / recommended on the basis of CAPF – AC Exam will not eligible to appear at a subsequent exam for recruitment of CAPF – AC post .
