Leading up to World War II

In particular, the political and economic instability in Germany and the endless resentment of the harsh conditions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. Which led to the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and his national Nazi party.

Did you know? As early 1923, in his memoir and propaganda book “Main Kampf” (My Struggle), Adolf Hitler predicted a general European war that would lead to the “extermination of the Jewish race in Germany.”

After Rich became Chancellor in 1933, Hitler quickly exercised unified powers, and in 19434 inaugurated himself as Fuhrer (supreme leader). Hitler was obsessed with the idea of the superiority of the “authentic” German nation, which he called the “Aryans“.

Hitler believed that war was war that career needed to expand the only way to get the “Lebensram” or essential space. Reconstruction of Germany began in the mid-1930s, secretly and in violation of the Treaty of Versace.

After allying himself with Italy and Japan against the Soviet Union, Hitler sent troops to occupy Austria in 1936 and annexed Czechoslovakia the following year. Hitler’s open aggression was uncontrollable, as the United States and the Soviet Union then turned their attention to domestic politics. And neither France nor Great Britain (the other two countries most devastated by World War I) was interested in fighting.

The U.S. Entrance and Battle of Midway

Although the Pearl Harbour attack prompted a declaration of war by the United States in Japan the following day. It will be months before American forces are seriously involved in the military.

In the spring of 12, the United States and Japan engaged in a series of recent naval battles. Which took place during the war on June 1942, and Japan faced a catastrophic defeat.

Operation Barbarossa (1941-42)

In early 1941, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria joined the Axis, and German troops invaded Yugoslavia and Greece in April.

Hitler’s conquest of the Balkans was the precursor to his real goal: the invasion of the Soviet Union, whose vast territory gave the German master race its much-needed “Lebensraum“.

Bombing

Half of Hitler’s other strategy was to exterminate Jews from German-occupied Europe. Plans for a “Final Solution” were launched during the Soviet invasion. Over the next three years, more than 4 million Jews would be exterminated in death camps set up in occupied Poland.

On June 22, 1941, Hitler ordered Operation Barbarossa to invade the USSR. Although Soviet tanks and aircraft were much larger than the Germans. Their aircraft technology was mostly obsolete, and the effects of the surprise attack helped the Germans reach 200 miles from Moscow in mid-July.

Negotiations between Hitler and his commanders resulted in the subsequent German advance being halted until October. t was halted due to the Soviet counter-attack and the onset of severe winter weather.
