HISTORY OF DADA SAHEB PHALKE
Dundiraj Phalke commonly or popularly known as Dada Saheb Phalke was born on 30 April 1870 in an extremely Marathi speaking family at an area called Trimbak
Firstly, Phalke completed his primary education in Trimbakeshwar.

Secondly, In 1885 Phalke joined sir JJ school of art, Bombay, and completed a year course of drawing. After that, he also started testing in photography, processing, and printing.

LIFE- CHANGING DAY
14th April 1911 was a life-changing day for Phalke.
Because this was the primary time when he visited to see a movie named Amazing Animals, at the America India movie theatre, Girgaon Bombay ( lifetime of Christ ).
He saw the movie along with his elder son Bhalchandra.
Watching Jesus in the film, Phalke imagined Hindu Gods like Krishna and Rama instead. Therefore he decided to start the business of “Moving Pictures”.
After that for the following, one year Phalke started collecting materials associated or In relation to films like catalogs, books, and also bought some movie-making equipment.
In addition to that he also bought a little camera and reels with it to indicate movies at nighttime, by focusing candlelight on a lens and projecting pictures at the wall.
On 10th February 1912, Phalke left for London. there He was introduced with Cecil Hepworth of Walton studios.
On 1st April 1912, Phalke returned to India. After coming to India he founded the ‘Phalke films company’.Therefore In India He decided to make films as he was knowing photography.

He decided to make his first film on the legends of Harish-Chandra and also wrote a script for it.
Regarding the cast and crew of the film, no female actress was able to play a task within the film therefore male actors had to portray female roles.
The film was completed after 6 months and 27 days and was launched on 21st April 1913 at Olympia Theatre, Bombay.
Theatrical release was on 3 May 1913 At the coronation cinema, Girgaon, Bombay. certainly the film was a success and was the First full-length Indian moving picture. This laid the muse of Indian cinema.

Then he decided to make a movie on the romance of Nala, king Nishadha Kingdom.
In Nashik, he met a drama company Chittakarshak Natak company.
Where Durgabai Gokhale was playing the role of Parvati, and on the other hand her daughter Kamlabai Ghokale was playing Mohini who became the first woman to act in Indian cinema.
He also directed the short film Pitache Panje.
He made his third film Satyavan Savitri on the legends of Satyavan and Savitri. All three films of his were successful at that time. These were some artistic films.

NATIONAL FILM AWARDS OF INDIA
National film awards were established in 1954 and it is the most respected Film award similar to the Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

Other than those private award nights where awards are purchased and are not given on the basis of any criteria. On the other hand, the National film award is managed along with the Indian Film Festival.
In addition to that, the Indian Panorama by the Indian Governments Directorate of Film Festivals. Above all is The Directorate is the organization that helps in appointing the members of the jury panel. But it has no hand in the selection of the film.
JURY
Each year a national jury is appointed by the Directorate of Film festival.
Majorly the National film awards are divided into two main categories :

A total of 100 films which are made in the country are entered or selected in each category ( Feature and Non Feature films). The films are selected by the members on the jury panel based on some criteria.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE FILMS FOR SELECTION
Clauses :
- The Film Maker or the director of the film should be Indian citizens
- The producer of the film should be also born in Indian or if the co-producer film is a foreign entity then there are six conditions that are to be satisfied
- The film should be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification between 1 January and 31 December
AWARDS
These Film Awards are divided into three main categories that is Feature Films, Non Feature films, and Best Writing on Cinema.
Basically, Feature films are those films that are made on a high budget and with a high technical and social standard.
Nonfeature films are generally documentaries and more story-based. Best writing in the cinema award is given to the best writer.
